Chris Columbus, direcotor of the first two Harry Potter movies celeberates birthday.
The director of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, who also was producer of both movies as well as Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban becomes 50 today.
He became the director of the first Harry Potter movie after longtime front-runner Steven Spielberg passed on the project. He met author J.K. Rowling and won the job over several other candidates after promising her he would film entirely in the United Kingdom and use an all-British cast.
He is the father of 4 children, his oldest daughter Eleonor played the part of Susan Bones in the first two Harry Potter movies.
